The time travellers and their TARDIS land on the planet Earth in the 21st century. Human beings have become totally reliant on T-Mat - a device that beams people and freight instantly to destinations all around the globe.

Unfortunately T-Mat is currently malfunctioning, so our helpful time travellers agree to pilot an obsolete rocket to investigate. They arrive at the moon relay station only to find the entire place overrun by Ice Warriors, who are preparing to invade Earth. In preparation and to try to weaken the earth's resistance in advance, the warriors are using T-Mat to their own ends. They are sending Martian seed pods to selected points on the planet's surface where they discharge a fungus that uses up all the oxygen from the surrounding atmosphere, making it deadly to humans but ideal for the Martians themselves.
